Halfway to the Grave

Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, Book 1)This is the first romance novel I've ever read, sure I've read novels with romance in them before but never from the romance section, it took some courage for me to actually step into that section in the store since I generally avoid it for all intents and purposes. I've noticed that, just like all other genres of novels, romance is currently banking in on the vampire craze that is sweeping the general public. Since I like to read things that are a bit more fantastical Jeanine Frost's Halfway to the Grave was a good pick, thanks to Lauren for the recommendation.

With strictly religious grandparents and a mother labeled the village whore, things aren't easy for Cat. That doesn't begin to cover it though since she isn't all human, she's half vampire and bent on taking out her daddy issues by beheading as many vampires as she can. While trying to take down a vampire, who goes by Bones, she finds herself in an odd position: tied up in a cave with the option of dying or living and becoming partners with the very thing she despises. Unfortunately, kicking vampire ass by night is not very conducive to getting straight A's at school or making friends with the neighbours. Throw falling in love into the mix and Cat's got her hands full.
