Elfland

Elfland (Tor Fantasy)One of the hazards of working at Chapters is you see what other people are buying and want to read those books too, that is the case with this book. I served a customer purchasing Elfland and unfortunately for me she bought the last copy in the store so I had to order one but it was well worth the wait! If you enjoy majestic worlds filled with fey creatures and mysterious evil forces lurking behind closed doors then I would recommend picking up a copy for yourself. (Not to mention a bit of romance for those of us softies)

Elfland is a book that transcends many universes, or dimensions, with the majority of the story taking place here on Earth. But if you are an Aetherial you can slip sideways into the Dusklands that are just hiding from plain view; one may say they are just an enhanced, more natural version of Earth in which you can find all sorts of fauna and flora not normally present. There is also a darker place known as Dumannios where there is a less savoury kind of creature waiting to greet you. And beyond the Great Gates on Freya's Crown lies the Elysion realm where all things magical and fantastic roam free.

One problem though is that the Great Gates remain shut and the Gatekeeper refuses to open them. Through family scandal, growing up, and discovering their true selves the main characters of Elfland are able to fend off the destruction of the world and find time for romance as well.
