I finished this book a couple weeks ago. I definitely know a lot more Russian now than I did before, even if it took a while to learn it. Unlike the original publication of the novel in North America the version I read had an additional chapter which was in the British publication. After reading it I can kind of understand why it was originally left out and how with that last chapter Stanley Kubrick's film adaptation would not have been as successful.
This is a book that I would recommend everybody read, it just shows how not disciplining your children can lead to utter chaos in society. Aka I think parents today let their children get away with anything and everything, just listening to some of the kids/teens shopping with their parents and getting everything they want and acting way inappropriately (a 3-year-old should not be using the f-word) doesn't seem right to me.
A classic to be sure, Anthony Burgess' writing style kept me engaged throughout the novel right to the very end gnawing on my finger nails. A short but well worth it read about Alex and his droogs, what they get up to, the consequences, and ultimately growing up.
