Finally the conclusion to Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan trilogy has arrived! Much awaited and happily received in my household, this book lived up to all of my expectations. I really do enjoy a good reworking of history, especially when there are steam punk elements thrown in. If you have not already done so I highly recommend that you go and read Leviathan and Behemoth, the first two books of this trilogy, because you honestly do not know what you are missing out on until you have experienced these amazing novels.
Needless to say everything comes together in this conclusion: Alek finds out that Dylan is in fact Deryn, a girl pretending to be a boy so that she can serve as a midshipman; Deryn finally professes her feelings for Alek; America joins the war, etc. Sorry for the spoilers but hey what did you think was going to happen in the last book diddly squat? And what am I supposed to say other than "Phew!"? Because I am relieved that our heroine gets the chance at love and although she still needs to maintain the pretense of being a boy for professional reasons at least she can be herself around her closest allies. If you cannot already tell I highly recommend this book and trilogy, five stars!
