P.S. I Love You

This is the first novel by Cecelia Ahern that I've ever read, I'm glad that I did. After my friend Lauren told me how much she loved the novel in comparison to the film version I just had to get my hands on it to read, thanks Lauren for lending me your copy :) I will say this is the only novel I have ever read that has reduced me to tears at the same time as giving me a good chuckle.

Sisterhood Everlasting

For those of you who as teenagers, or tweens, picked up the traveling pants novels and fell in love with Tibby, Carmen, Lena, and Bee then your in for a big surprise; the girls are back! Ann Brashares has written a fantastic novel set a decade after the last in the traveling pants series, Forever in Blue, that answers questions like what happened when they lost the pants? and did they grow up? If you're looking for a good read this summer, and aren't afraid for a little tear shed, then this will fulfill your need.

Clockwork Angel

After finishing Cassandra Clare's first four books in The Mortal Instrument series I figured I should probably read the prequel series. Knowing there was a slight chance that she might make tie ins between the two series it just seemed like the smart thing to do in order to keep on top of things, plus I loved the other books so the odds were in my favour for this one! Essentially if you're a fan of The Moral Instrument series then you will enjoy, or find you enjoy more especially if you like steampunk, the first installment in her The Infernal Devices series. With witty characters and some familiar faces she takes us on a whirlwind adventure through the streets of 1870s London.

Moonwalking With Einstein

Under recommendation from Mr. Cook, my Grade 12 English teacher, I picked up this book by Joshua Foer. I was glad to be reading it since it gave me a break from my usual fiction binge. If you've ever wondered about how memory works and what you can do to improve your memory this book holds a lot of interesting facts for you to peruse.

The Mortal Instruments

If you enjoy the supernatural and are looking for another series to get into, I would recommend The Mortal Instrument series by Cassandra Clare. The first four books have been released in a series that was originally a trilogy but is now rumoured to be six books in length (always good to know that there's more to come!). The books are set mostly in New York City, which is a place I find it easy to imagine fantastical things happening. Also, in the City of Glass a large portion takes place in the land of Idris which is the homeland of the Shadowhunters, the main supernatural race of the series. And if you are looking for even more excitement there is a prequel series calls The Infernal Devices, the first book of which is called Clockwork Angel.

Divergent

The start of a new series, gotta love it! Although I will admit I was at first skeptical of Divergent because reviewers continuously referred to it as the next Hunger Games which is a pretty high expectation to live up to. (By the way, if you haven't read the Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins then you really should!) Veronica Roth makes her debut with this novel, the first in a new series, which is exciting since I know there will be more to come. If you enjoy dystopias with a little romance thrown in then you will definitely enjoy this book.

Carpe Diem

This debut novel for Autumn Cornwell takes you on a whirlwind tour of Malaysia, Cambodia, and Laos. It follows the summer vacation of a young girl who is reluctant to even be on vacation in the first place. Vassar Spore finds herself dragged halfway across the world by an unlikely birthday present from her eccentric grandmother, a plane ticket to Singapore and an all expenses paid vacation. Throw a list making planner of a 16 year old together with a live in the moment or "LIMing" grandmother and you've got a hilarious adventure about growing up and realizing what life is really all about.
